Common Questions
Training delivers curriculum. It covers the standard Workday product. Mentoring delivers expertise applied to your configuration. Our sessions focus on your real tenant, your specific reports, your open issues. You leave having solved actual problems, not just having learned about a feature in the abstract.
No. Workday HCM includes a built-in employee mentoring tool for connecting staff with internal mentors. That’s an HR feature for Workday end-users. Our Workday mentoring service is for Workday administrators and teams; the people who configure and maintain the system. Completely different audience and purpose.
There are currently two workshops.
One is anchored on Workday reporting and calculated fields. This includes calculated field functions (text, date, number, boolean), Business Objects and data relationships, data source selection, and report troubleshooting.
The other one is built around Workday Orchestrate. This includes process designer, external connections, using triggers, conditions and branching logic, and live flow building.
These are the areas where admins most commonly get stuck. We also address configuration-specific challenges related to these topics your team brings to the session.
The workshop is designed for small groups of 4–16 to ensure every participant gets meaningful time with the mentor. For larger teams, we can discuss a modular or multi-cohort format.
Both options are available. Most workshops are delivered remotely via Zoom, which works well for the live, screen-share-heavy format. On-site delivery can be arranged for teams that prefer an in-person setting.
You need to be a Workday customer, but you do not have to be live yet. Some teams like to go through the workshop before they are in production; other see value after having been working with the real system for a while.
The entire value of mentoring over training is that it happens in your real environment. You work through your real reports, your real calculated fields, your real data. That’s what makes the learning stick.
